went out yesterday afternoon on a scouting location shoot.
I was looking at a location at the Samsonvale Cemetery right next to the North Pine Dam.
I took a few shots around the area and I was going to stay for the Sunset and for an hour after it but I have a rotten cold and I felt I was getting a lot worse.
I could not hear much at all and my daughter Natalie was with me so we both decided to call it early and go home.
So I might try next Saturday for a morning shoot and pray its not raining.
Here is a shot I took before we headed back to the car.

Bribie Island Shoot 9th April 2012

I went out nice and early to Bribie Island on this morning to go and get some nice sunrise shots.
So when I was driving there at 04:15am I could not see to many stars meaning yep I will have some cloud and some drama to the sky.
Well when I got there and walked 2 km or 1.24 miles north up the beach all of the clouds had gone and the only cloud was on the horizon. (Bugger)
So here I was standing on a lovely beach with not a whisper of wind around looking out to sea watching a very nice sunrise (with no cloud) I decided to at least try some new techniques out and explore some settings on my camera.
And here are two photographs that I came back with from the mornings walk.
Enjoy.
All photographs were Shot with a Nikon D700 Nikkor 24-120 VR Lens ISO 200 at f22 on ScanDisk 8.0 GB Extereme III Film.
Shorncliffe April 2012 Morning Shoot

I went out to Shorncliffe Saturday morning 7th April 2012 for a sunrise shoot.
I got there later than I wanted to but never less I was the only photographer there at 05:15am. Well that I could see? But later I did see one other.
To the sad part is that the jetty or pier at Shorncliffe depending on were it is that you live is now closed.
It is due to the structure not been safe to walk on and a report has said that water borers are one of many to blame.
This structure will turn 140 years old this year so a lot of people are hopping that it will be repaired, and I am one of them.
This is the second time I have been out to photograph this lovely structure and I hope it will not be one of the last.
All photographs were Shot with a Nikon D700 Nikkor 24-120 VR Lens ISO 200 at f11 & f22.

I think quite a few people this week will be very excited as I am to get this in the mail.
Thanks to the Sunday Mail for putting on the competition and for selecting one of my images.

I went out this morning around the Redcliffe Peninsula for some sun rise shots today and it was a okay sun rise but not much to really talk about. A few showers around.
But I still went at it and drove around to 5 different locations and then I got this.
My Shot of the day. No award winner but I do like it.
I also met some very nice people out shooting this morning so hi to julie if I remember her name correctly and hi to another very nice lady who’s name I can not remember from the Peninsula Camera Club.
Good luck for next weekend Julie

I was out on a scouting shoot last weekend and came across this little turtle.
Well to give you an idea of the size of him or her, if I put both of my hands over the shell of this little one my hands would not cover its shell.
I did pick him/her up after I got a quick shot and put it off to the side of the road to safety before more cars came along.

It funny how you don’t like something at first then just when I was just about to delete it I decided to have another look at it.
Now I like it, I like it a lot. I just needed to not look at it for a week and just like the other 100+ images I took that afternoon I had a better prospective of it and refreshed mind.

So I have a small quandary.
I took an image on NYE Afternoon 2011 at Bribie Island where we went so the kids could have a swim and an early dinner on the beach before fire works at 8 pm.
We went with friends and it was a awesome afternoon & evening.
But now I am at a position, which one do I like the best Colour or Black & White.
I find one day I like the colour image then the next day I like the black & white image.
Cindy our very lovely friend likes the black & white image and my very lovely wife Liv likes the colour image.

My father called me this afternoon to let me know that I was a top 50 winner in a photo competition in the Brisbane citys new paper. He was reading his paper when he came across the competition and found my name in the top 50 winners out of 500 selected. I did not get the top prize but it did get up. Also I found I have another one of my photo’s on the site so hey bonus. My winner was Sunrise At Redcliffe. The other one on the site is Sunset At Lake Kurwongbah.

I did the make up for Nisse but we only had about 1/2 an hour so I did not get to do The Crow look for her as it used to take me about 2 hours to do it on my self back when I was doing live theatre at Mouse Trap in Redcliffe. But it did turn out spooky for her and she had a great night going to the dance first looking after her little brother at his dance & then she got to stay for her’s with her friends. Great night all round.

I had a little problem with my web site and I deleted my older posts. Yes it was my fault that I did that but look at this way now I know what not to do.
So here is the photograph that I took of our son Davin a few months back at my wife and others refer to it as a James Dean look.

On Sunday the 18th September 2011 my son Davin & I went out to Bribie Island very early for him and we got a cool shot of the sun coming up through the smoky horizon. It was just luck that a yacht was passing at the right moment.
I thought this would be a great chance to show of how nice Nik Soft Color Efex Pro 4 is. This image below has been run through this software just using the “Tonal Contrast” pre set and wow it really cleans up the image just as we were standing there.
